Dishwasher Doesn’t Start

Initially, you should check whether the door is completely closed and the latch is secured. Next, see if the delay start has been activated. If these are not caused for dishwasher won't start, following are some more things you have to check.

→   Start or resume light is flashing

When the door was not closed within three seconds after pressing the start/ resume button. So, try to open the washer's door and close it again before pressing the start or resume button.

Moreover, it might be an indication of an interrupted cycle. To resume, make the dishwasher's door is closed and then tap on start/ resume.→   Power supply

Check the plug-in power cord. If your unit is direct wired, be sure that the wiring is properly connected. After that, you need to verify the working of the household electrical box, circuit breaker and fuses.

→   Water supply

If your Amana dishwasher is not starting, you have to check whether the unit is getting hot water or not. Make sure the hot water supply is on. Although, the valve which is leading the dishwasher should be opened.

→   Control lock

This control lock feature protects against accidental use of dishwasher and cycle or option changes during the cycle. For a short period, the control lock will be stayed on when it is activated. All buttons will be disabled and the door could be opened when controls are locked.

Press and hold the control lock button for about three seconds to unlock the controls. If it does not work, you need to disable the sleep mode. For disabling the sleep mode, press either start/ resume or cancel or open & close the door.

If you checked all the above things but didn’t work, now, go with the reset. Simply, disconnect the power source from an outlet and reconnect it after one or two minutes. If your dishwasher is a direct wired, turn off the breaker at the household electrical panel and turn it on after a minute.

Dishwasher Not Filling

The door should shut completely within 3 seconds of pressing start or resume. If the dishwasher cycle has been interrupted by the power outage, again you need to press the start/ resume button to resume the cycle. Along with these, you have to check the following:

→   Water supply valve

The water supply valve of your Amana dishwasher should be on and off properly according to the action.

→   Drain

The loop at the end of the drain hose must be at least 20 inches above the floor.

→   Overflow protection float

You can find this in the front right corner of your dishwasher tub. This piece secures the unit from overfilling so it should be in the correct place to operate. Make sure there are no obstructions in the float area and ensure that the float would move up and down freely.

Dishwasher Odors

If you are observing the food odors in your dishwasher, this is the time to check for food particles stuck on the tub bottom and hard-to-reach areas. To avoid this, you need to run a cycle with vinegar or any dishwasher cleaner.

Over time, you may get a bad smell from garbage disposal if the drain is connected to it. Hence, run the disposal to clean out any debris. After that, clean the dishwasher and disposal as well with an appliance cleaner.
