How to Clean a Hobart Mixer

Many people are using Hobart commercial mixers in their restaurants or bakeries. If you are also one who has a Hobart mixer, focus on the regular cleaning and maintenance. One of the best ways to protect against common Hobart mixer problems is to regularly clean your equipment and it's parts. Below are the tips on how to clean a Hobart mixer that you can follow to extend the life and minimize parts replacement.

How to Clean a Hobart Mixer?

While cleaning Hobart mixer, you should clean the mixer bowls and other accessories as well. Wash beaters, whips, and dough arms thoroughly with mild soap solution and water. After that rinse these components with mild soda or vinegar solution. Next, rinse with clean water before using them.

You should follow the same cleaning procedure for bowls and agitators before whipping egg whites or whole eggs.

Make sure you clean your mixer daily. You should not use a hose to clean the commercial mixer. Use a clean and damp cloth. You will be able to clean under the mixer through ample room under the base. Periodically, remove the drip cup and wipe it off to clean.

Wire Cage Cleaning

If you want to clean the mixer's bowl guard wire cage, follow the below instructions.

Rotate the wire cage to the left until the three carriers align perfectly with the carrier escape slots in the circular ridge of the planetary drip cup.

Lift the bowl guard wire cage straight up so the carriers escape from the slots on the drip cup. Now, you can remove the wire cage by pulling it towards you.

Then, wash the bowl guard wire cage in a sink. Rinse the cage with normal water and dry with a clean cloth.

The splash guard can wipe off and wash with a cloth or sponge using warm soapy water. Rinse with a clean cloth.

After completion of the cleaning process, you must re-install the bowl guard wire cage in the correct position.

Tips for Preventive Maintenance

If you follow the preventive maintenance tips along with regular cleaning, you can reduce the Hobart mixer problems. Here, we have given some Hobart mixer preventive maintenance tips that you can follow to save money with the less repairs.

Lubrication

Your Hobart mixer has many moving components. For a smooth running of all mixer parts, you have to lubricate them regularly. If you lubricate regularly, it prevents heat from warping the parts.

You should lubricate the lift slide rails at least once a month. The rails get splashed with doughy, dry or wet ingredients. So, it is very important to clean them frequently. Bowl clamps needed to be lubricated twice a year. Mixer's moving parts lubrication is one of the best ways to extend the life of your equipment as well as it's parts.

Seals Replacing

When seals are leaking, you can notice it around the auxiliary attachment hub, planetary assembly, etc. You just replace the grease. With the help of training videos, you can replace the grease simply. If you are trying yourself, use synthetic food-grade grease to replace it. Seals are also needed to be replaced if necessary.

Deep Cleaning

You should perform periodic deep clean. And, wipe down the mixer after every use. Check out the deep cleaning for various parts of the Hobart mixer. You need to clean all parts to clean leftover dough from all the nooks and crannies.

Switches and Timers: You will need to wipe down timers, switches, bowl attachment locks, auxiliary attachment parts, back rails, etc. At the end of every day, you need to do this. Remove parts that show buildup and clean them. Once a month, deep cleaning is necessary.

Fan and Protective Grid: The protective grid will be clogged easily as it is used repeatedly. Sometimes, it may be blocked which causes the motor gets too hot. The fan in the mixer is also coated with flour and other ingredients that obstruct the air intake and reduce the ability of the motor to cool down. So, clean the needed spots to keep the mixer's motor running smoothly longer.

Planetary Assembly: Clean the planetary assembly periodically by opening it with a screwdriver. When you open it, check for the lubricant leaks too. The moisture would be caused to rusted parts so see for the leaks and fix them.

Keep Mixer Parts Dry

Always keep each part dry before replacing them. Commonly condensation will occur on the mixer. To remove condensation, wipe it to dry after wiping it down at the day end. Make sure dry each one such as splash guard, wire cage assembly, etc.

Inspect Safety Features

You should check the safety features of your Hobart mixer. Check for the undamaged safety cage, power cord issues, wire cage bowl guard, etc. If they got damaged, replace them with less price.

Wrap-Up

If you care about your Hobart mixer with regular cleaning and maintenance, it will give you long service life. If the task of Hobart mixer cleaning gets too hard for your skill level, once contact a technician so you can get advice and instructions. For further more instructions on how to clean a Hobart mixer, refer to the owner’s manual.

Thoroughly clean and sanitize the soft serve machine regularly including complete disassembly and brush cleaning.
Clean the machine thoroughly by using all brushes provided. These brushes are specially build to reach all mix passageways.
You need to use the white bristle brush to clean the mix inlet hole that extends from the hopper down to the rear of the freezing cylinder.
Use the black bristle brush to clean the rear shell bearing located at the rear of the freezing cylinder. Make sure to have a sufficient amount of cleaning solution on the brush.
If local health codes permit the use of rerun, make sure the mix rerun is stored in a sanitized, covered stainless steel container and use it in the following day. Do not prime the machine with a rerun. When using rerun, skim off the foam and discard. Mix the rerun with a fresh mix in a ratio of 50/50 during the days of operation.
On a designated day of the week, run the mix as low as possible and discard it after closing. This will break the rerun cycle and decrease the possibility of high bacteria and coliform counts.
Prepare the cleaning and sanitizing solutions properly. A too strong solution may damage the parts and a too weak solution won't do an adequate job of cleaning as well as sanitizing.
The temperature of the mix in the hopper and walk-in cooler should be below 40°F (4.4°C).

No product is being dispensed with the draw valve open and the machine is in Auto mode
Freeze up in the mix inlet hole - Because of this mix inlet hole, you can get this problem. You have to adjust the mix hopper temperature to avoid issues.
Beater motor out on reset - If so, you should reset the freezer.
The beater is rotating counterclockwise from your end - You need to correct the rotation of the beater to clockwise from your side.
The circuit breaker is off or fuse has blown - Try resetting the breaker on. If the fuse has blown, replace it.
Inadequate mix in the hopper - Make sure to fill the hopper with sufficient mix.
Air orifice might not be installed - Install the air orifice in the air tube.

Product is too soft
To avoid this problem, you need to adjust the viscosity.
There will be no enough air space around the machine. Make sure to allow adequate airflow across the condenser.
Check for worn scraper blades. You will need to replace these blades regularly.
Clean the condenser once a month.
Check if the mix is out of date. Be sure, use fresh mix only.
There might be water loss. Find out the water leakage or any reason for water loss and correct it quickly.

Mix is too warm in the mix hopper
Check whether the mix hopper temperature is out of adjustment. With the help of a technician, you should adjust the temperature of the mix hopper.
Missing or worn mix hopper gasket - Need to replace the gasket around the mix hopper.
Verify the mix hopper cover position and adjust it correctly.
If the mix light is not lit, ON it by pressing the MIX button.

Freezing cylinder walls are scored
Beater assembly could be bent - To correct the cause of insufficient mix in the freezing cylinder, repair or replace the beater.

Check if the front bearing is missed or worn on the freezer door. If either of these cases happens, you have to install or replace it with a new bearing.

No freezer operation after pressing the AUTO button
The machine is unplugged - Plug into the wall outlet.
Problem with circuit breaker or fuse - If the circuit breaker is tripped, reset it. The blown fuse might be caused. Replace the fuse if it has blown.
Beater motor is out on reset - You have to reset the freezer.

Taylor Soft Serve Machine Regular Maintenance Checks
Replace scraper blades that are damaged or nicked. Make sure that scraper blades are properly attached to the helix before installing the beater assembly.
Inspect the rear shell bearing for signs of excessive mix leakage in a rear drip pan. It should be cleaned properly.
Keep the rear shell bearing and 3/4 hex drive coupling clean and free of lubricant as well as mix deposits.
Check O-rings and seals. If they are worn or fit too loosely, replace them with new ones.
Follow all lubricating procedures given in the owner's manual.
If your soft serve machine is air-cooled, you have to check the condensers for the accumulation of dirt and lint. As dirty condensers reduce the capacity and efficiency of a machine, you should clean the condensers monthly with a soft brush.
If your machine is equipped with an air filter, it's important to vacuum clean the filters on a monthly schedule.

Conclusion
Hope this Taylor soft serve machine troubleshooting guide helped you to save money and time. However, proper maintenance is the key to every machine to prevent problems. You can visit partsfps.com to buy genuine repair or replacement Taylor soft serve machine parts.

Carrier Infinity Air Purifier Installation

Have you bought a Carrier Infinity air purifier for your home comfort system? Check out this blog to know how to install it. The infinity air purifier is designed to remove and kill bacteria, viruses, mold spores and other airborne germs. This air purifier provides high filtration performance while removing and killing captured contaminants. However, take the help of this guide to complete your Carrier infinity air purifier installation.

Carrier Infinity Air Purifier Installation

Before starting the Carrier Infinity air purifier installation process, have a look at it's working process.

The infinity air purifier treats the whole air stream through the state of art and three-stage process.

At stage one, the particles are electrically charged by a precision point ionization array as they enter the air purifier.

In the second stage, the charged particles are electrically attracted to the air purification cartridge which is located within the electric field.

In stage three, captured particles are killed by an electrical current flow and ion bombardment.

Application Considerations

The Carrier Infinity air purifier is built for use in the return air duct of a forced-air heating, cooling and ventilation (HVAC) system.

Air conditioning units - If you install this air purifier in AC, then all the return air will be circulated. Infinity air purifier needs to be located upstream of both the furnace and air conditioning evaporator coil.

Humidifiers - An evaporative humidifier can mount upstream of the infinity air purifier. It's the best way to install atomizing humidifiers downstream of the air purifier because hard water salt deposits and water droplets may damage the air purifier.

If an atomizing humidifier needs to be mounted upstream of the infinity air purifier, it should be mounted as far upstream as possible. Moreover, standard disposable furnace filters should mount between the air purifier and the humidifier to trap hard water salt deposits as well as water droplets.

Make sure that the humidifier installation won't allow water or water droplets to enter the air purifier as it may cause damages.

Transitions - If the return air duct or furnace openings are not fit the infinity air purifier cabinet openings, Carrier recommends gradual transitions to reduce air turbulence and increase efficiency. Make sure not to use more than 45 degrees of expansion on each side of the transition fitting.

Turning Vanes -You should add turning vanes inside the duct if the air purifier is installed adjacent to a 90-degree duct elbow. This will improve air distribution across the face of the air purifier.

How to Install Carrier Infinity Air Purifier?

Improper installation may cause personal injury or property damage. So, you must refer to the individual instructions given in the package kit when installing.

Identify Mounting Location

First, you should remove all components from the box carefully. You need to identify the mounting location for the infinity air purifier in the return air duct.

The identified location should be accessible. Moreover, you need to provide enough room for the periodic replacement of air purifier cartridges.

Mount Infinity Air Purifier Cabinet

Turn off power to your heating or cooling system.

Now, you have to take out the existing furnace filter and discard it. There may get excessive system static if the infinity air purifier is used with other filtration devices.

Remove the air purifier cartridge and enhancement module from the air purifier cabinet.

After that, you have to place the cabinet between the furnace and return the air duct. You may require a transition duct.

Use furnace adapters for top/ bottom mount installations.

You should use the return air duct adapters to connect the upstream side of the infinity air purifier cabinet to the return air duct.

Install foam tape in between the air purifier cabinet and the furnace.

Use the mounting holes for ductwork and furnace attachment.

Seal seams with tape or caulking after the air purifier cabinet has been secured. Secure furnace to transition with sheet metal screws.

Wiring

Make sure that power has been removed from the heating and cooling unit. Turn off the Carrier Infinity air purifier.

Now, you need to connect the power cord and airflow sensor bypass plug to the appropriate power supply connectors.

While connecting the power cord, attach the green ground wire to the ground terminal on the cabinet.

Route the power cord through the nearest cabinet hole and protect it with the enclosed cable connector.

Enclose the zip ties to secure the power cord to the side of the power supply.

Next, attach the quick connect terminals to the furnace spade connections. You have to connect the ground ring to the furnace chassis ground.

The air purifier needs to be powered by 115v/60 Hz.

If you don't have EAC connections, contact your local HVAC technician.

Conclusion
After completion of Carrier infinity air purifier installation, you need to check it's operation. The infinity air purifier must only be powered when airflow is present. Still, if you have any queries related to your air purifier installation, you can contact a local HVAC technician. Although, your owner's manual will assist you with how to install a Carrier infinity air purifier.

However, any kind of steaming equipment gets troubles. If your steamer also not steaming properly, check out our Vulcan steamer troubleshooting guide. With reference to this post, you can simply fix the basic Vulcan steamer problems.

Vulcan Steamer Troubleshooting Guide

Below are the most common problems that can occur in the steamer. So, check the possible causes and solutions for your Vulcan steamer problems.

Steamer Will Not Heat

Check for the incoming voltage. There should be sufficient voltage to produce normal heat.

Inspect the tank if it is filled or not.

Check for the malfunction of the power switch. Sometimes, it needs to be replaced.

There may be a water level control malfunction.

Relay malfunction might occur.

A high-limit thermostat could be opened. Close it to fix the error.

Check for the inoperative heating element. Limiting or regulating contactor malfunction.

Control thermostat could be opened. It must be In a closed position.

Check for relay malfunction. If necessary, you need to replace the relay.

Water Not Being Supplied to Generator

If there is no water supply to the generator, first turn the machine ON. Now, check whether the water supply is available or not. After 10 minutes of running the machine, you have to observe the supply. If no water is being supplied, then you need to check for issues with the water level control probe or water solenoid valve

Scalants in the water level control probe give a false indication of a sufficient water level in the generator. So, remove and clean the probe assembly thoroughly to remove lime build-up or scalants. Moreover, the water condition must be cleared immediately with a good water conditioner to avoid further problems with your Vulcan steamer. Now, you have to re-install the water level probes and canister assembly.

Water may be drained through an open generator solenoid valve as quickly as it's fed to the generator. Scale particles trapped in the generator solenoid valve seat can prevent the valve from closing.

Water Accumulating in the Cooking Compartment

Water accumulation on the bottom of the steamer's cooking compartment is primarily condensed steam. Due to debris in this compartment drain screen, it will fail to drain out quickly and completely.

To resolve the problem, pull the screen straight out and clean it. Once the cleaning has been done, rearrange the screen in the correct position. Sometimes, improper leveling of the steamer also caused not drain completely.

Vulcan Steamer Achieves Pressure Slower than Normal

If the generator takes more than 18 minutes to get normal operating pressure, i.e., 3 to 4 psi, check the following steps.

A heavy buildup of scalants has possibly coated the interior of the generator. The insulating effect of the scalants hampers heat transfer in your steamer. Unscrew & remove the clean-out port plug on the generator bottom and with a small mirror check the interior.

If you notice scalants or lime buildup, you have to perform the generator cleaning. If there are significant scalants, examine both the generator drain solenoid valve and the water level control.

Check for the low incoming gas pressure. You can check the incoming line and manifold gas pressures as given by your owner's manual.

Check if the gas combination control valve has malfunctioned. If you have done pressure adjustments, but manifold pressure remains low, you will need to replace the gas combination control valve. Also, test the Vulcan Hart steamer for proper operation.

A gas orifice could be clogged or obstructed around the air shutter. Check for debris in the small gas orifice opening and clean it out. By using a round metal instrument of the same hole diameter. you can clean the orifice. Also, remove any other foreign objects that are obstructing the gas orifice or air shutter.

Steam Output is Low or Slow Cooking

Here, you can know the possible causes for your steamer slow cooking.

Due to blocked steam injector ports. Check and clean them if needed.

See if the steam solenoid valve is not opening fully or blocked.

The steam intake shut-off valve might be closed.

Check for the cycling pressure switch malfunction. It may need adjustment.

Pressure relief valve leaking or steam supply lines leaking might be causing the issue.

Check for the clogged steam strainer.

Superheater clogged or cracked.

Burner Won’t Light or Won’t Stay Lit

Gas is turned off - You should turn it to ON.

There could be a combustion air pressure switch malfunction.

No power to the ignition module. Hence, check whether there is a power supply to the ignitor module or not.

Check if the machine is grounded properly. Also, verify the incoming power polarity on automatic ignition systems.

Low incoming gas pressure.

Malfunction with ignition module or gas combination control valve.

There may be a water level control malfunction.

The Generator pressure switch might be opened or set too low.

See if any obstructions in the gas orifice.

Supply line gas pressure is too low.

Manitowoc Ice Machine Installation

Are you looking to know the Manitowoc ice machine installation procedure? Here, you can find the steps to install your ice machine. The ice machine should be installed as per instructions. Moreover, the connection to drains, water service, electrical service, and grounding should compatible with the applicable local and state codes. Read this blog to complete Manitowoc ice machine installation steps simply.

Manitowoc Ice Machine Installation Process

Find out the guidelines on Manitowoc ice maker installation.

Location Requirements

The location where you want to install the ice machine must meet the following criteria. If any of these criteria are not met, you have to choose another location.

The place should be free of airborne and other contaminants.

Ensure that the air temperature is between 40°F to 110°F.

For a remote air-cooled ice machine, the temperature must be minimum -20°F and maximum of 120°F.

The location should not be near the heat-generating equipment. Although, should not be in direct sunlight and be protected from the weather.

The location must not be obstructed airflow through or around the ice maker. You can check the clearance specifications in the manual for your specific model.

Bin Installation

All models of ice machines installed on a bin will require an ice deflector.

Manitowoc bins have a deflector installed and no need of modifications when used with a forward facing evaporator.

Ice machines with multiple evaporators need a deflector kit.

Dispenser Installation

For ice machines that match the dispenser size, there is no need for an adaptor. Unless required by the manufacturer.

No deflector is required.

While installing a dispenser, a bin thermostat is recommended to control ice level.

Leveling the Ice Storage Bin

You have to remove the threaded plug from the drain fitting.

Screw the leveling legs onto the bottom of the bin. The legs must be screwed in tightly to prevent them from bending.

Screw the foot of each leg in as far as possible.

Now, move the ice storage bin into it's final position.

Level the storage bin to assure that the bin door closes and seals properly. You can use a level on the top of the bin. Turn the base of each foot as necessary to level the bin.

Manitowoc bins comes with a closed-cell foam gasket installed along the top surface of the bin. So, you have to inspect the bin gasket before ice machine installation.

Remove all panels such as front panels, top cover, left and right panels from your machine before lifting and installing them on the bin.

Electrical Requirements

Coming to voltage, the maximum allowable voltage variation is ±10% of the rated voltage at ice machine start-up.

Ice machine's wire routing and ground must be done according to the local, state and national electrical codes. Also, observe the following things.

The ice machine must be grounded.

Use a separate fuse or circuit breaker for the machine.

Inspect all green grounded screws in the control box and ensure that they are tight before starting your ice maker.

Minimum circuit ampacity

It is used to select the wire size of the electrical supply. Minimum circuit ampacity is not the machine's running amp load.

The wire size depends on the location, length of run, materials used and so on. Hence, it is better to take the help of a qualified electrician to determine.

Ground fault circuit interrupter

GFCI or GFI protection is a system that shuts down the electric circuit when it senses an unexpected loss of power. Normally, Manitowoc doesn't recommend this ground fault circuit interrupter circuit protection system. But, if your local code recommends, then you can use it.

Water Inlet Valves

When you are installing the arctic pure water filter system, check the installation instructions given with the filter system for ice making water inlet connections.

Make sure not to connect a hot water supply to your ice machine.

If the pressure of water exceeds 80 psi, get the water pressure regulator from the manufacturer.

You need to install a shut-off valve for both ice-making and condenser water lines.

Insulate water inlet lines for preventing condensation.

Drain Connections

You must take care when installing drain lines for preventing drain water from flowing back into the machine and storage bin. Follow the below guidelines when you are installing drain lines.

Drain lines should have a 1.5-inch drop per meter and should not create traps.

The floor drain needs to be large enough to accommodate drainage from all drains.

You have to use separate bin and ice maker drain lines and insulate them to prevent condensation.

Vent the bin and ice machine drain to the atmosphere. No need to vent the condenser drain on water-cooled model machines.

Cooling Tower Application for Water Cooled Models

You must know about the heat rejection amount and the pressure drop through the inlet and outlet valves when using a cooling tower on your ice machine.

Water flow through the condenser should not exceed 19 liters per minute.

Water entering the condenser must not exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

A pressure drop between the condenser water inlet and outlet of the machine be at 7 psi.

Water exiting the condenser won't exceed 110°F.

Danfoss Thermostat Troubleshooting

A thermostat is a vital component of HVAC equipment. The Danfoss thermostat in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning units allows you to easily change the temperature in your home or business building that leads to sustaining comfort. As thermostats do an exceptional job to keep us comfortable, problems may happen from time to time. So, in this post, we have given about some Danfoss thermostat problems and their troubleshooting tips. If you are getting problems, you can refer to our Danfoss thermostat troubleshooting tips.

Danfoss Thermostat Troubleshooting Tips

Follow these tips to fix your Danfoss thermostat issues easily.

Danfoss Thermostat Not Working

Is your Danfoss thermostat not working? This can be a frustrating problem to deal with. However, you have some easy steps to fix the issue. Try yourself once to keep your unit working.

Test the Thermostat Settings

If you are using Danfoss programmable thermostat in the HVAC units, first, you have to test the settings to ensure it is set up correctly. You can notify one button for heat, cool, and OFF and another switch for powering the fan at your thermostat.

To solve the problem, turn the thermostat to heat mode in setting and crank the temperature up and see if the system does respond anything. If the unit's power is on, consider that there could not be a problem.

If you need to test the thermostat on air conditioning, you need to set it to cool mode and turn the fan mode to Auto. Now, turn the temperature down and wait for a few seconds. If you observe that the system is working, it's a good sign. Otherwise, there could be another problem going on.

Check Inside of Thermostat

If your Danfoss thermostat is not working at all, there may be a problem raised internally. So, you will have to inspect the inside of the thermostat. First, verify the electrical circuit breaker box and shut off the power to the thermostat. You should also turn the thermostat off and remove the top cover carefully.

Now, you have to check the wiring that is damaged, loose, or disconnected. Also, check to see if everything is clean in the wiring department.

If you found any issue inside of your thermostat or there is loose or broken wiring, that might be the problem. If not, you need to find other issues under the cover and there could be something going wrong with your HVAC system. You can also solve the issue with the thermostat replacement.

Display Screen Is Blank

In most cases, the thermostat screen is displayed black when everything is powered on. If you are facing this problem, you have to check the thermostat for dead batteries. You have to be replaced the batteries if they are dead.

Check the access of your HVAC unit that is not closed properly. You can see a blank on the thermostat display if the door is not closed in the proper way.

When your unit doors are closed, a switch is activated that allows the heating or cooling equipment to work. If this door is open, then the switch doesn't activate and yields to the system will not work. Make sure to examine that your unit and all doors are closed.

In addition, verify for the tripped circuit breaker. A tripped circuit could be caused the thermostat to display a blank screen. If it is tripped, reset the breaker. Generally, HVAC units have their own circuit breaker. Make sure to examine this breaker to set the switch in the right position.

Thermostat Won't Turn on Heat

If your thermostat does not turn on the heat or not maintaining heat in your building, check the batteries. If the display screen is working properly, then you need to inspect the issues with wiring of the thermostat.

Check the position of the Danfoss thermostat. It should be completely leveled. If it is not at a level, then the mercury switch in the thermostat could tend to read the incorrect temperature. It results that your system power on and off continuously. Ensure that the thermostat is completely level to fix the issue.

Thermostat Reading Doesn't Match with Actual Temperature

If your thermostat seems to be not giving the correct temperature, it could because of a temperature sensor. You may notice the difference between indoor temperature and reading temperature when there is an issue with the temperature sensor. Once check the sensor to repair. If you are unable to fix the issue with the temperature sensor, replace it with a new one.

In addition to the above, program defects and old components are also reasons behind your Danfoss thermostat not working. If your thermostat becomes old or there are any issues with the programming, replacement is the better way.

Conclusion

Finally, if you have done all basic Danfoss thermostat troubleshooting steps, but your unit still not working correctly, it's time to call an HVAC professional. True Freezer Troubleshooting

The True freezer is one of those appliances that tends to go unappreciated until it's not freezing as it should. However, many things can go wrong with your True manufacturing freezer. As there are just as many simple fixes, you can try these fixes to get the unit back to keep in perfect condition. Have a look at these True freezer troubleshooting tips.

True Freezer Troubleshooting Guide

Find out the solutions for True Freezer not freezing, operates continuously, compressor problems, etc.

Freezer Running but Not Cold

We will see the basic operation of the cooling system in your True freezer before start the troubleshooting process.

The compressor releases a refrigerant to the condenser. The condenser coils transform the refrigerant from vapor to liquid while releasing heat which you feel blowing near the unit while it is in a cooling cycle. The cooler refrigerant flows into the evaporator through an expansion valve. From the evaporator, it absorbs heat from the freezer and cools the contents. After that, the refrigerant moves into a warm vapor, then returns to the compressor and repeats the cycle.

However, a disruption in the cooling cycle stops your freezer from cooling. So, you need to verify many factors that contribute to this issue. Before going into depth fixes, you have to fix some minor issues.

Thermostat

The temperature setting might be raised accidentally. If this is the case, simply adjust it.

Check for the defective thermostat as it does not send power to the refrigerant system.

To see if the thermostat is working properly, change the thermostat setting from lowest to the highest. If you notice a clicking sound, consider that there may not be a problem with the thermostat. Also, check the continuity of a thermostat using a multimeter. If it has no continuity, you need to replace the thermostat.

Defrost Timer

You should remove the freezer's plug while testing the defrost timer. Manually advance the defrost cycle by using a screwdriver. You need to turn the advancement screw clockwise until you hear the click sound. When you notice a click, this advances the cycle to the next mode. Wait for 30 minutes or one hour and inspect if it has resumed cooling. If the defrost timer is not advance, you have to replace it.

Condenser Coils

Check for the build-up of dust and dirt around the condenser coils. You should clean these coils every 6 months to get an optimum operation. Additionally, clean the rear-mounted coils once a year.

To remove dirt accumulation, you can use a brush or vacuum. Use hot soapy water to remove stubborn debris. Make sure that water will not be dripped on your True freezer components.

Door Seal

You have to test the freezer's door seal as a faulty door seal causes the freezer not to cool. If the seal is dirty, it simply needs to be cleaned. If the freezer's door is not sealed properly, it needs to be replaced or the door realigned.

Evaporator Coils

Generally, the defrost heater melts any frost that accumulates on the evaporator coils. If this frost is faulty, frost will continue to accumulate on the evaporation coils. You can test the heater with a multimeter for continuity. If it doesn't have continuity, you will have to replace the heater. In addition, dirty condenser coils may cause to not transfer heat or cold efficiently.

Compressor

You can find the compressor at the bottom of the freezer. It emits a steady noise or humming sound that indicates that it is running. Clicking sound indicates that the compressor is overloaded or overrunning. If there is no clicking sound but your freezer is not cooling, then there may be an issue with the compressor or its components. So, you have to test each component and replace if it is defective. Also, check the start relay. If it smells burnt, it needs to be replaced.

Condenser Fan Motor

Check if the condenser fan blades are rotating freely. It should be free from obstructions. Obstructions can stop the fan blades from spinning and motor bearings are worn out over time. Also, test the continuity of a fan motor with a multimeter. If it doesn't get the continuity, replace it to get back your freezer running.

Freezer Runs Continuously or Long

Check out the possible causes and fixes to your freezer running for a long time.

Shortage of refrigerant - Fix leakages if any are there. You have to charge the refrigerant if necessary.

Control contacts stuck or frozen closed - Clean control contacts or replace control.

Refrigerated or air-conditioned space has an excessive load or poor insulation - You need to check if there is excessive load.

The evaporator coil is iced - Defrost it.

Check if the condenser and filter are dirty.

Start Capacitor is Open/ Blown/ Shorted

Relay contacts - Check if the relay contacts are operating properly. If not, clean or replace if needed.

Low voltage, improper relay, or high starting load are the causes to this problem. Determine the reason and the need to correct it.

Excessive short cycling might be caused this issue. You can check the answer for short cycling in the True freezer manual.

Relay is Defective or Burned Out

You may have an improper size relay. Check and replace it if necessary.

The relay should be mounted at the correct angle.

Line voltage could be too high or too low.

Relay is being influenced by loose vibrating mounting. You have to remount it rigidly.

Incorrect run capacitor might be the reason behind this problem. So, you have to place the correct capacitor.

Suction Line Frosted or Sweating

Expansion valve passing excess refrigerant or is oversized - You need to readjust the valve or replace it with a smaller one.

Expansion valve stuck open - Clean the valve. Replace if necessary.

Johnson Controls A419 Troubleshooting

Johnson A419 Temperature Controller is designed to control HVAC equipment under normal operating conditions. Where failure or malfunction of a Johnson A419 temp control could cause damage to the equipment or other devices like limit or safety controls. If you have issue with your controller, check out our Johnson Controls A419 troubleshooting tips.

Johnson Controls A419 Troubleshooting Guide
Johnson Temperature Control A419 series can be used to control a wide variety of single-stage HVAC or refrigeration equipment. Typical applications include:

Retail stores display freezers, walk-in coolers, and reach-in coolers.
Space and return air temperature control.
Supermarket display cases for products.
Cooling tower pump and fan control.
Condenser fan cycling or staging.
Boiler operating control, used as a thermostat.

Johnson A419 Troubleshooting
If your Johnson controls A419 not working properly, you have to verify it's wiring, and configuration. Also, check whether it is set properly or not. If all these are in good condition, but the problem persists, try the following procedures to determine the cause of the problem.

Check for proper supply voltage to the control
To verify if the Johnson temperature control is receiving proper voltage, go through the below steps.

Loosen the four captive cover screws for removing the cover.
You have to use a reliable AC voltmeter to check the voltage between COM and 120/ 240V terminals on line voltage models. And, verify between the two 24V terminals on low voltage models.
The voltage reading must be between 177-264 VAC for 208/240-volt applications, 102-132 VAC for 120-volt applications, and 20-30 VAC for 24-volt applications.
If the voltage reading is not within the specified range, check the power source & input power wires.

Check for proper sensor operation
Before going to verify the operation of the sensor, you should disconnect all power sources to control.
By using an accurate thermometer, you have to note the temperature reading at the sensor location.
Now, disconnect the sensor from control.
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance across the two sensor leads while the sensor is at the temperature taken as before step.
Refer to the manual to verify that the measured temperature and resistance matched with established temperature and resistance values.
If the sensor's measured resistance value is different from the expected value for that temperature, then, your job is to inspect the sensor wiring. If that wiring is okay, you will go through the sensor replacement.

Mounting Instructions
To avoid installation instructions, refer to the below steps and know the correct mounting process.

A Johnson A419 controls has either a NEMA 4X corrosion-resistant watertight or standard high-impact plastic NEMA 1. This control is not position sensitive, but you should mount it for convenient wiring and adjustment.

When mounting the A419 temp control to rigid conduit, you need to attach the hub to the conduit before securing the hub to the control enclosure.

NEMA 1 mounting hole pattern is identical to that of the system 350 controls and models of the A19 control. The NEMA 1 enclosure can be mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail. The NEMA 4X models will be mounted on flat vertical surfaces using the four screw holes at the enclosure corners.

Use a conduit fitting rated for the environment in which the control is installed to maintain the watertight and corrosion-resistant integrity of the NEMA 4X enclosure.

An additional two-wire cable is needed to operate the temperature offset function. For NEMA 4X enclosures, you should install a suitable liquid tight-fitting in an available knockout to pass the two-wire cable through the enclosure wall.

In addition to the mounting instructions, you should know how to wire Johnson controls a419. Refer to the owner’s manual to get wiring instructions.

Conclusion
That's all about the Johnson Controls A419 troubleshooting procedure. If your system doesn't work even after performing the above steps, contact an authorized Johnson Controls technician. We hope this guide helped you to finish your job quickly and easily. Stay in touch with us to get more troubleshooting guides on HVAC equipment and their components.
